Position Description

Rising 2L interns will assist attorneys or financial professionals in varied aspects of the trust and estate profession and will participate in 2-3 hours per week of seminar instruction.

Intern employers engage in a dynamic and diverse area of law practice that includes: preparing wills and trusts; probate; estate and trust administration; elder law; guardian and conservator administration; state and federal income, estate, gift, and inheritance taxation; asset preservation; employee benefit planning; charitable planning; advising tax-exempt organizations; and litigation involving probate, trust, and protective proceedings.

  1. Cover Letter– indicating the candidate’s fit for this position and which of the participating employers the candidate will consider.
  2. Resume.
  3. Official or unofficial law school transcript.
  4. A writing sample (no more than 5 pages, legal or academic).
  5. Contact information for two references.

The  1L Summer Legal Internships in Estate Planning & Fiduciary Law program offers temporary positions with both educational and professional development opportunities. Participating employers will set their own employment terms, including compensation. Interns will not be employees of those firms for purposes of eligibility for employee benefits, health insurance, paid time off, participation in retirement plans, or other benefits.
